abrdn Appoints Dan Grandage as Chief Sustainability Officer, Investments

Edinburgh-based global investment company abrdn announced today the appointment of Dan Grandage as Chief Sustainability Officer, Investments, replacing Amanda Young in the role, who left the business at the end of April after leading the firm’s sustainable investing group since early 2022.

In his new role, Grandage will lead abrdn’s global sustainable and active ownership strategy, with responsibility for ensuring that sustainability is integrated and considered as a core part of the investment process to help deliver risk adjusted returns.

Peter Branner, Chief Investment Officer at abrdn, said:

“An integrated sustainability perspective in our investment process is a core feature for our clients at abrdn. It helps identify both risks and opportunities, thereby improving our decision making and is key for our investment results.  I am delighted to have Dan in this critical role as we navigate the evolving sustainable investing landscape.”

Grandage joined abrdn in 2013, and has been serving in a series of ESG and sustainability-related roles at the firm, most recently as Head of Sustainable Investing, responsible for integrating abrdn’s approach to sustainable investing across both public and private assets.

Grandage said:

“The sustainable investment field is rapidly evolving as it grapples with myriad regulations, while trying to help investors navigate the global challenges of climate change, environmental degradation, ageing populations and corporate actions. It’s crucial that our sustainable investing approach provides clarity and insights to our investment teams and our clients, enabling them to make better informed investment decisions on where to allocate their capital.”
