Former US president Donald Trump has increased his support for the cryptocurrency industry, announcing plans to launch a new NFT collection. In an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek, Trump stated that his previous NFT collectibles have been a huge success. The first three collections quickly sold out, with 45,000 cards sold. “This is an incredible spirit. It’s beautiful,” Trump said, adding that he plans to release a new collection.
Trump and cryptocurrency saga: Once enemies
Although Trump has been skeptical of cryptos in the past, he has changed his stance in recent months. “If we don’t, China will,” he told Bloomberg Businessweek, emphasizing that the United States should be ahead in the crypto race. Trump stated that China is highly developed in this field and the USA should not miss this opportunity. “We have a good foundation,” Trump said, calling the US crypto industry a baby and saying he did not want to allow another country to become a leader in this field.
As Kriptokoin.com reported, in May, Trump’s election campaign began accepting donations in crypto. According to new data from the Federal Election Commission (FEC), about $3 million of the approximately $331 million Trump’s election campaign raised last quarter was in cryptocurrency. This is considered an indication of Trump’s interest in the cryptocurrency industry. Trump stated that he met many important names from the cryptocurrency world and described them as “high-level people.”
New NFT collection will enter the markets
Trump, announced that he had chosen Ohio senator and Bitcoin advocate J.D. Vance as his vice presidential candidate. This choice by Vance is seen as another indicator of Trump’s support for the cryptocurrency industry. Major players in the cryptocurrency industry have further strengthened this support by making large donations to Trump’s reelection campaign and associated super PACs. Kraken co-founder Jesse Powell and Gemini founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss donated significant amounts to Trump’s reelection campaign and the new Trump-focused America PAC and pro-crypto Fairshake.
Trump stated that the crypto industry “is not going anywhere” and said that his interest in cryptocurrencies continues to increase. In his interview with Bloomberg Businessweek, he emphasized that he knows the crypto industry more closely and will continue to advance in this field. As a result, Trump’s support for the crypto industry and plans to launch new NFT collections continue to excite Trump followers in the crypto space.
