Sensex drifts near day’s low.
Oil prices have started the session slightly higher but moves for the are expected to be in a range as U.S. and U.K. markets are closed today. However, in the week ahead prices could see high volatility with focus of the U.S. fuel demand during the current summer driving season, U.S. oil inventory data due on Wednesday and the OPEC+ members meeting on 2nd June, where they are expected to roll-over current output cuts till year-end.Technically, Crude oil’s momentum looks sideways with a negative bias, with resistances at 6560/ 6690, while support holds at 6340/ 6250.

Moves in the commodity markets are expected to remain sideways for the day in the absence of major participants, as U.S. and U.K. markets are closed today. However, going ahead volatility is expected to remain high with some cautious trading ahead of the inflation numbers due to Germany, Euro zone, and U.S., later in the week. Technically, Gold is still in the bullish zone till above key supports at 71200/ 70800, upside prices may again move higher towards target at 72850-73600, but we advise to maintain strict stop below 70800 (below which more correction is expected).

Stock Market LIVE Updates: Best Agrolife Q4 Results: Net loss widens to Rs 72.49 cr on price erosion
On Monday, agrochemicals firm Best Agrolife Ltd reported a widening of its net loss to Rs 72.49 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2024, due to price erosion. This is a significant increase from the Rs 8.41 crore loss reported in the same period last year. The company’s total income, with plants located in Uttar Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, declined by 46.68% year-on-year to Rs 135.39 crore. For the full fiscal year 2023-24, Best Agrolife’s net profit dropped by 45% to Rs 106 crore, compared to Rs 192 crore in the previous fiscal year.

As of 12:51 PM, bids have been received for 28,31,82,588 shares, equivalent to 32.81 times the issue size of 86,29,670 shares. Notably, the retail segment of the issue has been subscribed 36.9 times, while the non-institutional category has seen a subscription rate of 75.93 times.
As markets have been in a prolonged uptrend, smaller stocks have systematically found more activity as is evident in the widening of bid ask. For example, the percentage of stocks in NSE with bid ask greater than 0.15% has climbed from 56.8% at the start of this year, to 59.2% now. A lower tick size could be a step towards bringing in more tightness in the quotes, especially in the lower priced stocks. A drastic change is not expected though, but is a welcome step as volatility expectation has gone up, with VIX trading well above 20 for sustained periods.
