Oil hits seven-week high on demand hopes, war jitters
Oil prices hit seven-week highs on Wednesday. Brent crude futures for August, due to expire on Thursday, were up 20 cents to $85.53 a barrel by 1235 GMT, while the more active September contract gained 21 cents to $84.74.

Tech View: Nifty ends Wednesday’s session in the red, drops 42 points; key levels to track tomorrow
Though, Nifty placed at the highs, still there is no confirmation of any significant reversal pattern building at the highs. Further weakness only below 23300 levels could be considered as a short-term top reversal pattern. Further sustainable upside bounce is likely to negate this negative setup, said Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities.

Nifty Bank hits fresh record highs! Here are key levels to track on Thursday
The Nifty Bank rallied nearly 1,000 points to hit a fresh record high on Wednesday, tracking positive cues. The index closed 957 points higher at 51,398. It hit a record high of 51,957 in trade on Wednesday. The Nifty50, on the other hand, pared gains after hitting record highs to close marginally in the red.

Rupee slips from two-week high; ends tad down on importer dollar bids
The rupee ended slightly weaker on Wednesday, as demand for dollars from local importers and oil companies pushed the currency down from its two-week high, which was driven by inflows into equity and debt markets. The rupee closed at 83.4550 against the US dollar, down from 83.41 in the previous session. During the session, the rupee peaked at 83.3450, marking its highest point since June 5.
Gold prices traded in a range between $2,327 and $2,335 in Comex as the US holiday on Juneteenth day saw limited movement in the absence of US participants. Same was seen in MCX with range move between 71625 – 71880. A base seems to be forming near $2,300-$2,315, with resistance at $2,345-$2,360. A major move is expected only if this range is broken. While the Fed’s stance on cutting rates remains hawkish, recent data on US CPI and retail sales suggest that interest rate cuts may be on the horizon, especially with the US election approaching in the second half of 2024.

Nifty witnessed another lackluster day; in fact, the index remained very range-bound, staying broadly within 23450 and 23650. Sentiment continues to favor short-term bullish trades as the index sustained above the 55 exponential moving average (EMA) on the hourly chart. The short-term trend remains strong, and any dips towards the 55-hour EMA, which is currently pegged at 23340, might get bought into. On the higher end, in the short term, the index might move towards 23800 and beyond.

The Bank Nifty index continued its strong momentum post-breakout and approached the mark of 52,000. The strong momentum is likely to continue, with immediate support at the 51,000-50,900 zone. The index remains in a buy mode, and dips should be bought aggressively for targets of 52,100-52,600.
