The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 431.63 points, or 1%, to close at 42,512, topping its record finish from Friday.

The S&P 500 gained 40.91 points, or 0.7%, to end at 5,792.04, for its first record close since Sept. 30 and its 44th all-time high finish of 2024.

The Nasdaq Composite advanced 108.70 points or 0.6%, to finish at 18,291.62, off 1.9% from its record close of 18,647.45 set on July 10.
